Eating out

Currently, there are some excellent eateries in and around Newquay. If you love sea views and international cuisine you must try the Lewinnick Lodge restaurant on Pentire Headland. It is open day and night, but you will probably have to book, owing to their fantastic sea views, extensive menu and competitive prices. For those in search of an old traditional pub, the 400 year old Smuggler's Den Inn in Cubert comes highly recommended. It serves fresh fish, succulent steaks with an excellent lunchtime menu of salads, sandwiches and pasta.

Did you know that Jamie Oliver has opened a restaurant on the beach at Watergate Bay? There is no need to book for breakfast and you can check out the 'late availability page' for lunch and supper reservations. Simply visit FifteenCornwall.

For those who enjoy fresh local produce and high quality food Viners Bar and Restaurant in Summercourt (approx. five miles S.E. of Newquay, just off the A30) is a must. One guest wrote that "The atmosphere was cracking and the food was really impressive with an attention to detail and presentation that was hitting well above the mark ..." Something its guests particularly appreciate is that the cost of a meal here is very reasonable. Another restaurant that comes highly recommended is Jamie Oliver's Fifteen Cornwall in Watergate Bay. It is more expensive, but overall, it appears their clients are not put off by this.

If you like spicy food you must try Senor Dicks Mexican restaurant in the centre of Newquay. It has a great atmosphere and excellent food. Alternatively, the recently refurbished New Maharajah Indian Restaurant in Cliff Road, Newquay is " ... back and is possibly one of the most splendid Indian eateries in the UK. The décor is sumptuous and modern, the view is breathtaking, the lounge is amazing and of course the food has always been a cut above. A visit is necessary to see for yourself."

For good old fish and chips Port and Starboard Cafe/Fish and Chip Shop in Chapel Road, Indian Queens is "Without a doubt the best fish and chip restaurant in Cornwall, as voted by the Seafish Authority.
